The Buffalo Cooperatives Summit was a Pannel Discussion and
Coctail Hour/Fund Raiser for new cooperative ventures in Buffalo. It
took place Thursday June 1st and Saturday June 3rd in 2006.

Cooperatives Summit Pannel Discussion

where: Massachusetts Avenue Project, 271 Grant Street (Buffalo)
The Buffalo Cooperatives Weekend includes a Panel Discussion on Thursday June
1st 5:30pm at the Library on Grant St. The Panel discussion topic is "How Can
Co-ops serve the Needs of the Buffalo Community?" with panel moderators Peter
Ross Firestone and Erin Sharkey.
Panelists include Curtis Haynes, an economics
professor at Buffalo State College; Tim Bartlett, General Manager of Lexington Co-op;
Dierdra Emel, project coordinator of Food Ventures and Tree of Life;
Derrick Bateman and Kelly Maurer of the Buffalo Cooperative Federal Credit Union,
Aaron Bartley of People United for Sustainable Housing and Justin Wiedenbach of
Nickel City Housing Co-op and NASCO Properties. It is our hope that this summit
will encourage inter-cooperative discussion and networking between cooperative
community groups.
Cooperatives Summit Cocktail Hour
when: Saturday, June 3rd at 7pm
where: Nickel City Housing Co-op, 208 North (Buffalo)
A fun time for members of the co-op community to get to know each other and what
everybody is doing around the community. There will be tables set up for different
groups to display brochures, pictures and information about themselves. All
proceeds will go to a fund for starting new co-ops.
